Faculty & Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Laurie Miller

Mrs. Laurie Miller has been a teacher for 30 years, and she now serves as the middle school math teacher at Courtney Christian School. Mrs. Miller loves to incorporate technology into the classroom, and this year she piloted the middle school’s use of technology in instruction.

Some of the technology resources Mrs. Miller has implemented in her classroom include interactive apps and digital programs that she can mirror from her iPad to the classroom smart TV while teaching to demonstrate and reinforce new concepts. Students in her class also have access to in-class iPads and programs like IXL Math which allows them to practice new concepts and move on to more advanced assignments when they are ready.

Mrs. Miller has taught many different grades and subjects, but English and math are her favorite to teach. Mrs. Miller said, “I love seeing the eyes of students when they finally get a concept or skill they have been struggling with. I absolutely love sharing the love of my God with students.”

A parent of a middle school student said, “Mrs. Miller has been a beacon of light. Her patience and willingness to give that extra love and nudge has proved to be a winning combination for us this year. We are so very thankful for all the staff as CCS, but I had to give an extra shout out to Mrs. Miller! Thank you for loving and teaching our babies!”

Outside of school, Mrs. Miller enjoys reading, spending time with her family and shopping on Amazon. She has served in ministry next to her husband, who is a pastor, for 33 years.
